Nuclear submarines are some of the most powerful machines ever created by humans, and here we get to see one in one of the planet’s most inhospitable environments. Los Angeles-class submarine USS Hartford (SSN-768) breaks through several feet of solid ice in order to surface in the Arctic Circle – with ease. I get chills just watching this.
