Time flies fast when you’re trying to figure out the mysteries of the Universe… it seems like 2015 started just yesterday, and now winter is already over. Let’s take a deep breath and have a look at what we’ve done so far in 2015, what went right, what went wrong, and what we’re planning for the future!

What you liked the most

We put our heart and soul into every single article, but some stories are just more interesting than others. Here are the 10 stories you guys liked the most so far in 2015 (based on the number of views):

So, I guess all I can say is… thank you! Whenever I look at the numbers and see how many of you are reading our articles, it always humbles me and makes me feel so grateful for having the chance to address such a large and awesome audience!

The picture that changed the world.

But it’s not always all good – I really don’t think you can do this type of thing without making some mistakes, and we’ve had our share of screw ups; so far, in 2015, the major issue seems to be…

The infamous pop-up

Many of you have told us you can’t find a way to subscribe and receive the articles directly in the email – so we wanted to make it more visible, hence the pop-up. The goal of the pop-up is to ask you once if you want to subscribe; if at first you don’t want to but then you change your mind, you can still do it via the subscribe bar at the bottom of the right sidebar.

That’s it, and then the pop-up disappears… or so it should. We’ve received quite a lot of messages telling us that the pop-up… keeps popping! Well clearly that shouldn’t happen, and we’ve fixed that technical issue. If that still keeps happening, you only need to activate your cookiesthe only reason why the pop-up keeps appearing now is if your cookies are not activated.

But still – if you have any problems, anything you don’t like, anything you’d want to see more (or less) of, if you have any feedback – do tell us. Just hit ‘reply’ on this email, or contact us at any given time.

What we’re up to now

The main thing we’re working on is, as always, delivering the best science to you! That has been, and always will be, our top priority. But we always strive to do even more!

I have decided to remove insulting comments, as well as the comments that are blatantly wrong scientifically. I always wanted the comment section to be a free-for-all and no-rules area, where everyone can speak his mind, even if he/she is clearly wrong, but I’m slowly realizing that’s not the way to go. If we want to promote science, we can’t have faux science anywhere on the website – not even in the comment section. Just to make thing clear – we will never censor anyone speaking his/her mind or making claims which have not been proven, but we will remove “the Earth is flat” comments. I simply don’t have enough time to answer all the comments and explain why they are wrong, and they might influence other, unaware readers.

As for other projects, we’re still working on tweaking the new design, as well as launching a ZME Shop and releasing a new E-book. Which one do you think should be our priority?

So, that’s pretty much what we’ve been up to in 2015… what about you? We’d love to hear from you, so share your thoughts with us!
