AI is designed to create motivational quotes. Things go hilariously awry

This AI seems to have gone insane. Loco!

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has come a long way. It’s already been beating the best of us at chess for years, and more recently, it’s been beating us at Go as well (which is an unimaginably more complex game). But for some things… let’s just say AI is not quite there yet.

Meet InspiroBot (try it!), an “artificial intelligence dedicated to generating unlimited amounts of unique inspirational quotes for endless enrichment of pointless human existence.” You’ve guessed it, the bot makes inspirational quotes. The problem is, it seems to have gone insane.

To be honest, it’s not exactly the pinnacle of AI research, and we’re not really sure who’s behind the project. It seems to have been online for at least a couple of years, spewing out pointless quotes which sometimes barely (barely!) border on the edge of reason. But mostly, it’s pretty crazy.

As far as I can tell, it just picks up an Instagram-inspirational image, and adds the motivational text to it. The thing is, it’s pretty close to brilliance. It nails the vocabulary and style, but it just doesn’t quite fit all the puzzle pieces together. It’s exactly what you’d expect from an AI trying to accomplish a truly human task.

Still, who knows — maybe Inspirobot is well aware of what it’s doing, and it’s fully capable of inspirational quotes. Maybe it gained consciousness… and just went insane. Hey, I’m not saying it happened, but you never know.

Oh screw you Inspirobot.

At the end of the day, the AI did a great job at boosting my mood — probably better than if it did proper motivationals. In this case, can I call it anything else but a resounding success?

Here are a few more of my favorites. Try it yourself, and post results in comments!
