No, what you are looking at isn’t some crazed alien art, it’s a naturally occuring mineral right here on Earth. It is called ‘Goethite’, after the German remarkable personality Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. It is basically an iron oxyhydroxide, but it can show up in a multitude of shapes, including the dazzling ones you see here.
