Flying penguins take off to bask in the sun
Tue, Apr 1, 2008

Well somehow BBC always manges to find a way to surprise and thrill us; while I was browsing their site I somehow managed to not see the story about the flying penguins (no bull, just follow me). Luckily, environmental graffiti paid more attention and they found this fascinating video. Yes, penguins to take off and fly. How? Well…While BBC was recording some material about the Adelie penguins on King Geoerge Island, around 750 miles south of the Falkland Islands, the weather started to change and things didn’t seem great. But nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary.

But then, instead of penguings gathering together to keep warm, as your average penguin does, these Adelie penguins just… started flying towards the South American tropical rainforests.
“The film reveals nature’s stunning glory in exciting and unexpected ways, so much so that it defies belief…Not only does it create a vivid and emotional experience for the viewer, it also illustrates just how bold and simple Darwin’s idea of natural selection was.”, said ex-Monty Python star Terry Jones, part of the presentation of the video.
So having said that, just one more thing left to add: Happy April fools!!
